well i was coming home the other day, and the tailshaft bushing decided to go. It was 10pm, and i was 30 miles from home, so i just drove it. Now i need a housing for my 4l80. can someone help me out? dont reallly know where to look.

well, i called to a bunch of places, the only place to get one is the dealership. But, GMPartsDirect.com has it for $53, so if anyone was wondering. Part # is 24221768.

Are you sure? I got a used one for $85
Don't forget to get a bushing, the seal you could find about anywhere.

If you run into a 4L80E two wheel drive tail shaft pm me?
I have a spare I may or may not use but it's a 4x4, I got the 4x2 housing. Just need ANY output, slip yoke or bolt on will do.

Yeah, i put the part # on the housing in and it crossed over to the # listed. List at the dealer is $85, but online its $53. Doubt it comes with a bushing though, but that is standard TH400 fare i beleive.

The bushing on a 4L80E has a lube hole in it, it's pressure lubed. Not sure if a th400 bushing will work. You'd have to drill a hole in it at least.
I did get my tailhousing used from a hardparts supplier, they put a new bushing and seal in it.
