Default transgo kits 7002+3 and SK 700 jr A kit?

whats the difference in the two kits?

the trans Im building now is an oldschool 700r4 (85 I think)type1 and this trans will be behind a very mild/stock longblock LT1. so I want a firm shift, and full manual control AND full auto. will the jr A kit work fine for me? there's about a $50 price difference.

my next trans will be all out, full manual mode goin in my Iroc with my 383 engine. but like I said this car prolly wont even be raced. if some kid buys my car, it'll get beat on Im sure. but it wont be a very fast car with stock cam/shortblock (havent decided to mess with the heads or not since it would only be a matter of a handfull of hours to lightly port them. we'll see)

oh, quick response would be appreciated as Im takin the trans out this afternoon, and need to order it asap to be able to install it tomorrow (also replacing clutch's, thats the reason for removal)

You will need the 700 2+3 to get the full manual hold down etc you are wanting .

I've installed both kits, but it's been a few years. Looking at the instructions for both the JR kit is more of a problem solver and it doesn't say you can hold any gear to any rpm and it doesn't have the full manual option. I don't think it came with the high rev 3-4 and foward clutch springs.

The 2&3 kit I've done more of, it will hold any gear at any speed, and there is a full manual option.
It has the 3-4 and fwd clutch springs, theres a lot more work to be done on the seperator plate.
I would get the 2&3 kit if you're looking for a nice firm shift and for full automatic shifts in D or to hold whatever gear you have the lever in with no automatic upshifts. And theres also the full manual option.

yeah thanks guys. I have been trying to look into it online, and from what I can find, the sk 7oojr a is just a fix it kit. and not really a "shift kit". yeah I def. want a firmer shift and would like this trans to have the manual control available too. guess I'll have to bite the bullit.

I have been combining both kits for over 10 years now to get the best of both worlds, smooth part throttle shifts and firm WOT shifts. I add the Torlon checkballs to these kits to keep the checkballs from destroying the separator plate. TransGo did this combination in the 4L60E but never on the 700R4, so I combined the kits as stated, and it works very well.
