Default any write ups on how to convert from 4l60e to th350?

I am sick and tired of the god damn 4l60e....5 of them is enough.

I want to convert to th350.

What do I need and what do I do?

I only see a write up for a 400

Well the conversion from 4L60E to th350 would be the same.Just get a th350 converter and a cross member for a th350.Yank and BMR have them.Have you tried any of the highest level 4L60s from some of the LS1Tech sponsers. Ive seen some people run high 9s and low 10s on 4L60s.

getting another 4l60E would cost me an arm and a leg....I can't keep coughing up money like that. I rather get something Strong and I know that will last it for me...I don't mind the 3 speed.

Honestly a TH350 is not physically much stronger than a 4l60e depending on what your breaking . Personally though if I wasnt going with a 4l60e then next choice would be a H400 with the top being a 4L80E They both require mods but the 4L80E will let you enjoy the car more .

Pretty sure what he means is that there is not one factory original designed transmission that can take severe duty for very long in stock trim. It's a fact.

And.... the TH350 is a light duty unit that has been made to take abuse over the years. It's a good unit, don't get me wrong. The 4L80E is indeed the best bet for your car, without a doubt. Problem is as stated, it is expensive.

Good Luck.

Reprograming the PCM . working out the TORQUE arm and CROSS MEMBER , Drive shaft mods, vACCUM hookups unless you go full manual. Its a task in both cases. VSS so speedo will work.

ok

Retuning is free for me

TQ arm is Spoohn and its mounted to the body.

Cross member can be ordered from BMR

Driveshaft can be ordered too...tired of the steel one.

Don't mind full manual.

not sure about the speedo thing.

Yes but Still if you like driving your carI would strongly suggest the 80E the big difference in the swap is the cost of the trans or you could get a 4L60E from a company with a good waranty

You sound like the perfect candidate for a TH400. There are several different companies that can build you a bulletproof TH400. I have a Rossler. Best thing I ever did to the car.
Warranty is great and all but I got tired of pulling the tranny out every 15 to 20 thousand miles or less. I want a transmission that will last 3 or more race seasons, not one race season and then yank it out again to "refresh" it.
For most of the guys on this site a transmission swap is a MAJOR ordeal, something they only want to do once. And for 1500 dollars you should only have to do it once. It should last at least 50k miles running low 12s to high 11s. When the 4L60E gets to that point I won't hesitate to spend the money on one. Its not there yet. I for one don't know if it will ever be.

I just think the sponsors should be more honest about where the threshold of going to a TH350/TH400 is, its lower than you guys let on.
Of course its your living to build and sell these transmissions and at the rate they break its gotta be a cash cow.

Generally no. A built TH400 was generally cheaper than a good 4l80e. I haven't looked in a while, so maybe things have changed.

Rossler's th400 ranges from $1000 to $4000 depending on how "built" you need. They have a 4L80e posted as street and strip for $1400. Looks like the 4l80e may be in my future at this price.

Well my dad has been 1.37 short time numerous amounts of times on his TH350. Also all his race cars have had TH350's and never has one broke or gave him problems.

The way i see it, you really can't go wrong with a TH350.
Pros
You lose weight from the swap.
Gain ET.
T-Brake
FMVB
cheaper to buy and build
no electronic Bull ****!
no tuning needed.
Cheap maintenance

Cons
No OD the #1 concern for most street car guys.
higher revs going down the interstate bc of #1

Thats about it
