I just bought a TCI 3500 and my car is currently in the shop for it to be installed. I was just wondering how it will help me from a rolling punch, like 40-60?
Oh I didn't think a car with 3.73's would drop into 1st at 40. I was a little confussed by this. With my 2.73's above 40 MPH my car won't down shift.
It won't go into first gear. It'll go into second gear. It'll feel like a first gear drop, though, because it will drop to a significantly higher RPM than it would with the stock stall. A stall doesn't adjust shift points, but it does adjust the RPM's the tach begins at with a WOT upshift and downshift. It's called a shift extension. For example, when your car previously shifted from first gear to second gear, it probably dropped to what, 4,000 rpms in 2nd gear? Well, now it'll probably be like 5,000 rpms. That would be a 1,000 rpm shift extension. Same thing happens when you downshift.
BTW, these numbers are completely hypothetical. I have no idea what they'll really be, this is just a rough estimate.
i like my yank ss3600 from 40 punch with nitrous...hits like im dead stop racing...koolest thing is ive never been jumped on i always slingshot out a car from the hit
