Got my 4l80e swap done, one question...
It stays in 3rd gear.
I know thats what the 4l80e does in safe mode. I put a speartech m6 to 4l80e harness in my car. Would not having the ignition switch hooked up right cause this? Where should I put it? Also would not having the right tune cause this? I had a guy put the 4l80e tables in. Everything else is great though.

4L80E defaults to 2nd gear. If it is in 3rd, you likely have power and possibly a bad 2-3 shift solenoid.
3rd gear is 2-3 sol on, 1-2 sol off.
Could be a bad solenoid, stuck shift valve, sol feed orifice in the seperator plate too big, or and 3rd gear clutches stuck ON internally.

The 4L60E defaults to third. On a 4L60E, no solenoid power puts you in 3rd. On a 4L80E it puts you in 2nd.
What all has been done to this unit?

After calling and talking with speartech and doing some more mechanical work on the car found out some new stuff. Everything is hooked up right, got power. The car is throwing the p040 and p058 code. Speartech said it could be the wrong tune files. Which could be because the guy I had flash my pcm didnt seem to know exactly what he was doing but he said he got it. Allen Futural is supposed to tune the car tomorrow morning. I just wanted to be able to drive the car to the shop. What do you guys think? Possible tune issue?
