converter upgrade
been thinking maybe its time to upgrade the converter. need some suggestions...and i dont want to hear what i should get cause you have it
car is a cam only car and will prolly stay that way for a while. right now i have a vig 3200 and i love it. its netted me a best 60' of a 1.53 when i had 3.23s. im afraid to go to a different converter and lose that bottom end. its mph 117.3 when i threw the 3.73s in with a crappy 60'. i heard tp4400s are pretty good? any other good combos for my setup?

Is it a track car only or a daily driver? Are you going to stay NA? What are your plans?
For an NA track car I would go with the PT4400.
If you don't mind a little looseness but drive the car everyday I would go with the PT4000. And if you are worried about looseness and drive the car everyday I would go with the SS3800. Or maybe a SS4000 since the SS3800 is fairly close to your vig.

its not a track only car. i like to drive it every day when its nice out. but now i got a nice beater, a 97 tahoe i dont mind it being loose. shouldnt be as loose with a 3.73 as a stock gear. the vig 3200 wasnt too bad at all.
im staying NA

Unless you are running theft recovery weight or on a downhill facing track, I'd leave it alone. Cutting 1.53s with 3.23s and hitting 117 mph is pretty damn good. Yes, in theory a YTP 4400 should produce even better results, but the number of 1.4x cars with stock heads and a semi-normal race weight is a short list. I'd see how you do in the 60' with the 3.73s before moving up.
stock weight, cept for the drag wheels/spare gone. i got 2 runs with the 3.73s in- leaving easy i got 1.58s and ets were low 11.5s. then the trans went south so i couldnt get a chance to launch hard. went back this sunday and snapped the shaft on the pinion gear, tore the driveshaft in half, and a few other things. so i dont have any real 60's on the 3.73. but everone keeps saying how i can ET so much better with a bigger converter. the 117 was with the 3.73s. i dont know if the trans was slipping on the 2 11.5 runs or if it would have mph higher if the trans wasnt going out. i mph like 116 with the 3.23s.
i would go bigger vig, but we all know they arent the best for efficency. or i could just keep this one in.

DriveATransAm,
I wish I went with the Vig.3200 instead of my Vig.3600. Don't get me wrong, I like my converter a lot. I don't have any issues with my custom tuning, but it does flash alittle high for my taste and for my future plans. Plus the Vig.3200 is a tad more efficient upstairs then mine. Since I have such a mild setup plus I might use the bottle in the spring, I think I'm going to have my Vig.3600 reduced to a Vig.3200. Seeing how you cut those awesome 60' times I don't see me giving up any performance by switching.

i was thinking of going with a vig 3600, but i havent seen many people posting any great numbers with it. i havent seen any local vig3200 owner cut short times like mine. i dont know if i got a lucky converter or if its the car. i was cutting 1.8s on the stock converter. dont know if i got any 1.7s, ill have to check.
Wow i have the vig 36 i hade all my work done by Thunder Raceing and V Fisher Auto and the best i every saw just yet is a 12.322 and a 1.728foot. maby i can get a little better out of her never went back to the track after that tho. dont know what you looking for or how far to go but i can tell you this. for all that cry about it being loose low end you wont find any diff please. the 36 is not that bad at all after jeff did a little LS1 tune to it it was fine.but maby i can get a 12.2 or 1 out of her who know's it's all in the driver... it work's pretty good for me

i may spend some money and get a set of stage 2s in a couple months though.
