Default PRO 5.0's installed!.UPDATE!! use loc tight!

I got the new shifter put in the car friday and im loving it! I should have gotten this a long time ago. The gears are so much closer together now and it just feels good when shifting. I'd recomend this be the first mod M6 guys do , huge improvment over stock. I might cut the stick to make it a little bit shorter though. I think this is my favorite mod so far...well mabye besides the exhaust. Now ...what should i do next?

Cool man, congrats!

I've had the Ripper and then decided to try the Pro 5.0 and I didn't care for it as much as the Ripper. But to each his own, it's like Pepsi vs Coke.
You can cut the stick or get "Lou's Short Stick." I broke my Hurst leather **** (when I installed the Pro 5.0..lol) and ended up buying a MBA "SS" **** from Thunder Racing. I like it alot, the threads in the MBA shifter ball are ALL the way at the top so it dropped the height about one inch over the Hurst leather ****. Just a little FYI.

Next mod? I would say headers or gears.

Happy modding,
Craig.

nice.....I love my pro 5.0......if you really want to make it fast, do what I did:

1) remove the shift **** and put a dab of paint on the top thread (bright color)

2) reinstall the **** and thread it on all the way

3) remove the **** and measure how many threads have paint on them (this will tell you how many threads are inside the ****).

4) starting at the bottom thread, measure that number of threads up the shaft and add one full thread.

5) cut the shift handle off at that point

6) reinstall the ****....it will be short and fast

my **** now has a throw of less than 4" (about 3.75")

For your next mod I would say to do LCA & Panhard. I run Spohn and they have been great. www.spohn.net I would also get an edelbrock torque arm. Once you have all that in to control and eliminate wheelhop you are ready for the ultimate M6 mod. Put a set of 4.10 in it!!!! By far the best mod I've done to date but if you don't do the suspension work first it will create major traction problems for you.

When I installed the shifter I used loc tight on the base bolts and that was it. Big mistake! First my bump stop bolts vibratted loose. Put some loc tight on them and retightend. Now my bolts holdong the stick on vibratted loose as well.Have to go out and fix them in the moring. just a heads up to any one installing a new shifter , USE LOC TIGHT !! Still love the 5.0 and would recomend it to anyone.

i love my pro 5.0 but i ordered my lous short stick today. I might try the mod that 2001 camaroguy is talking about if the stick is not short enough.

99TranTrany I wish I would have read about the loctite before my install. The handle bolts backed out twice on me, not really a big deal to get at em though.

BTW not to bash anyones choice but, I bought my car used and constantly missed the 3rd shift. So I got the pro 5.0 and when I installed it the prev owner already had the b&m ripper in there!! Glad I didn't buy that one instead. The pro 5.0 is my best mod to date.

2001CamaroGuy Good idea. I did it different. I used a nut so I could back it off to tap the threads after sawing. I just guessed the size, I like your paint idea better though.
