Ok, we just installed my Yank SS4000 converter and on the initial test run it was pulling from 2nd gear only from a stop. It threw a code, had something to do with a stuck solenoid in the tranny. Fluids were in check and had no leaks. So, the next day we took it back out for another test run and it seemed fine (still had the code), had 1st, the car pulled hard and everything seemed ok. Well, day three it's back to not pulling in 1st and my installer now tells me it's not pulling in reverse as well. Prior to the converter install, the car actually did the same thing at the track, left the line in 2nd gear, but only happened once. And the tranny is original with 65K on it.
So, is it time to rebuild it, or is it possibly a tuning issue?

Agreed if it was just the starts in a higher gear I would say tuning but the no reverse is mechanical. Likley you may have two issues one the converter is causing the PCM to set a code PO757 shift solenoid be stuck on even though it isnt and the no reverse now may be the sunshell stripped. So now you have a second concuring opinion. You probably need a trans and a tune.

If the converter is seating in the pump and is machined correctly and since they do buy the hubs like everyone else premade it would seem unlikley the converter could take out the pump. There are issues that can however. Excessive line, warped flexplate, Installation error. Did you sent the converter back to yank for them to make the determination that ts ok? Even if the hub was slightly off center its would be more likley to take out the pump busing and vibrate than kill the pump any signs of odd wear on the pump bushing?
