I'll take a stab at this one....

1. The best overhaul kit... there is not one. There are many combinations that can be utilized when building this unit.... hwlping us understand what your goals are for this unit will determine what goes into it.

2. The converter stall... Absolutely nobody can tell you what stll you should choose without knowing your combination.

3. Gear. Not sure what you are asking here... the gear will be determined by many things... the intended operation of the vehicle, the tire size, the camshaft, power adder etc..

Get back to us with more info and we can be more helpful.

Thanks that is a good start....

"Street racing and drag racing from time to time" ... So is it used as a Daily Driver predominantly or not?

H/C & 3.73's.... what tire size and suspension upgrades? 3.73 gears will prove to be streetable in the long run... anything lower and you'll be wishing you had your overdrive back.

I don't see too many square cams... who's grind is that?

Is the tranny in good shape? Is it hurt? Was it in a performance application previously?

TIRE SIZE IS 255/40/16 & JUST KYB SHOCKS UPGRADE.
THE CAM IS A CUSTOM GRIND FROM LS1 SPEED.
THE TRANNY IS IN GOOD SHAPE IT JUST NEEDS TO BE OVERHAULED & NEED A TQ CONVERTER & IT WASNT IN A PERFORMANCE APPLICATION BEFORE.

I used a B&M kit in my th350 (red clutches) and it works great for mine. I'd probably suggest around a 4000 stall for yours

Ok that's good info.

A stall somewhere in the 3400 - 3800 range should be fine, I would keep it on the tighter side because of the power adder.

As far as a kit goes. You'll want one that incorporates a good set of Raybestos clutches, heavy duty forward and intermediate sprags a good heavy duty band and a good quality shift kit. If you are going to tackle this yourself then I would suggest talking to someone. If you would like to give us a call, give us a shout Monday. Racing transmissions is what we do!

There are many, many different combinations of hubs, valve bodies and other components that could be considered. If you want a good solid unit then just get a good kit from someone like TCI or ATI. If you want a custom unit tailored to you application, then give us a call. Just because it is a custom tailored unit does not mean it comes with a custom pricetag either!
