POS TCI Lock up Question
well converter maybe has 1500 miles on it.
brand new
Super Street Fighter Tci 3600
Lately the lock up clutch isnt working. i will drive for a few mins then itll finally decide to slip in.
Also when tranny as like 150 degrees it wont take a WOT in the 2-3 shift
It will just bounces off limiter.
After the tranny warms up itll do a 2-3 shift after i have tried doing the 2-3 shift 1 or 2 times and the tranny is a little warmer.
I also noticed my Tranny fluid staaying around 150 degrees. usually chills at 180 degrees.
Anyways. is it the converter thats goin out or could it be a tranny problem or what.
This just recently started. didnt do this before the CAM and tune..
Thanks

With power adders it is someimes nessesary to allow more time for the shift to occur from command to actual shift. The time it takes to make the shift at WOT is a fixed value. However if you do anything that increases power and causes the rpm to rise quicker may require this particularly if the rev limter and shift time are set to close. As for lockup again this could be a tuning issue, When you say you have to drive a bit however then it lockups up are you referring to when cold becuase the engine temp has to reach 130-140 degrees before lockup will be allowed by the PCM,

Lightweight converters often make misfire detect wake up and
hassle the lockup. This is a tune issue. TCI also has wimpy
lockup clutches (at least unless you ask them for better and pay).
This needs a lot more line pressure than stock to hold lock and
lock can't be held too far out into the torque range at best.
I played a lot with force motor to get my TCI3000 to hold (some).
If your tuner can get at "General Pressure" stuff (HPTuners; dunno
what others call it) you can bump line specifically for converter-
locked and deal with slippage "well enough". But refusal to lock
is most likely misfires.
Shifting, count the rev limiter "bumps" and take out 1MPH for
each one until you get clear. Your MPH is like a brick being dragged
by a rubber band and the new rubber band is stretchier than the
stocker by far. Plus with cam etc. you are pulling harder on the
other end of it.
