I went from a 3500 to a SS4000. It is a bit sloppier, but I dont regret changing.
SS4000 hits harder, pulls stronger, and it has 500rpm more shift extension.
Made the car totally different from the 3500 stall.
Depends on your goals for your car. Thats what I would base your decision off of, but thats me.

It's in the for sale section but since we're talking about it here, I'm looking to get $550 plus shipping. It has very few miles on it and always driven easy, except at the track where it got me a few 11s and now since the procharger 10s. Less than 20 total passes on it and probly only around 300 miles on the street. It's a great converter for someone who wants to go fast but also likes to drive on the street. I'm pissed it won't work with a th400.

It depends on what kind your 3500 is. The ss4000 actually drives tighter on the street than my vig 3800 was. That thing was so loose, I hated it, you wouldn't even move at a light until you gave it gas. Now with the ss4000, I barely notice it's stalled at least compared to what the vig felt like. Gears & large tires help also, I had 4.11s with 27" hoosiers.
