3600 Stall
I just put in a 3600 stall and it takes forever for it to lock, like if u drive normally it want lock till like 30 mph. Is this normall?
What are some ways to get it to lock sooner cause its starting to worry me.

why do you want it to lock sooner? Just wondering, part of the stalls function is to increase torque. Locking it up sooner would not only defeat the purpose of the higher stall converter in the first place, but you would go slower since the converter cant multiply torque if the entire driveline is locked. (Does that sound right or am I crazy)

It should never lock up in stop and go traffic. Are you pulling through the brakes at the light? If thats the case, your idle is too high. Say your doing 55 mph, then you coast down a hill, you can feel the engine kinda dragging the car as you decelerate, if you TAP the brakes you will feel the TCC let go and the car will coast much easier, thats the Lock Up. I think the short answer is yes, you can make the converter lock up sooner, but I really see no point in doing so. If it locked up any sooner the car would accelerate a lot slower, and Im sure it would strain the lock up clutch in the converter.

I imagine so but I honestly would live with the car how it is now. I cant tell you what to do but if your locking up early, the converter can't do its job correctly.

if you make it lock up earlier you will burn your transmission smooth up, tq lockup creates more heat n strain.
the tq converter shouldnt lock up til you are in D or OD and have steadied out your speed. usually like 35 - 45 mph depending on how you drive
