Default Will it damage my trans running a pressure gauge?

It says it the rebuild manual not to run a pressure gauge for more than 2 mins.

I think that may be for the guages sake I can see no way it could damage the trans unless the hose busted or the guage itself. I know I have driven cars around for days with the guage tapped to my windsheild when doing diagnostics

What do you think max pressure should be on a 4l60e?
I am seeing close to 300 psi at WOT.

Thats a bit high IMO it should not exceed 230 or so are you sure the guage is acurate they can be easiliy damaged ?I have seen presures that high before but only with a stuck PR valve.

A stock trans has more than 100psi. This is a built trans.

Its a new guage. At first the trans would not shift at WOT so I put a guage on it and the pressure was falling low at WOT. So I dropped the pan and turned the force motor and pressure was good and it shifted at WOT. So I guess i need to turn it back down a little.

Yes ideally you want the WOT presure to setat about 225 to 235 ish range much higher than that and risk of breaking things rises alot. While too little presure can do damage to much is just as bad and can be worse .
