Default HELP!!! converter install question

I have the trans stabbed back in ,bell housing bolts tight the converter is fully seated on the trans but i have about .250" gap between the mounting pads and the flex plate. Should i put some kind of spacer between them when i tighten the converter to the flex plate it is going to pull the converter 1/4" out from the trans is this normal any ideas? Also the bolts that came with the converter are much shorter than the stock gm bolts about half the length. Can the stock bolts be re used? Does anyone locktight the bolts? And the converter is a 3200 vig in a 02 Trans Am
Thanks
Dave

Thats is normal for the converter to need to com forwward and 1/4 inch is about right, Mkae sure you pull the converter forward to the flex plate before you install the bolts , Do not use the bolts to pull the converter forward as this may warp the flex plate and cause vibration.
