Shudder can also be related to a cam. Lower vacuum calls for less line pressure and so the clutch can slip for that reason. It seems to effect 9" Yank's more than other brands.

My shudder I could live with but the verter wont stay locked on the dyno,it unlocks constantly and IMO its the clutch.

The other problem I've had is 3 Yanks were all outta spec on the flywheel clearance.I had to machine all 3 converters pad .075 to get proper clearance to the flywheel.

Thats the reason some guys are loosing trannies with the Yanks,They dont check the flywheel clearance but IMO for that kind of money they should be closer in spec.

Dont get me wrong my Yanks always 60ft'd well (except for the UT4800)but they still have issues that I'm not putting up with anymore.

I'm actually not sure on the details of how the line pressure is handled in the 200-4R since I am still learning about these trannies. I will check with Mike Kurtz (the guy who built by tranny) on this.

Amen Joel..I emailed Mike from Yank about guys tearing up their trannys when i was interested in the new SS series converters. I asked if they resolved the issues with the tranny pump seals being torn up and he acted like they never had the problem. Well that was enough for me to decided to stick with my Vig. and have it re-stalled for the blower. Good luck with your new converter install.
