Default Shoot. I thought Yank was sooo good?

Where are all these "shudder" posts coming from?

And right after I ordered a YTP4400 too!

Now I'm scared.

Sure I did a search, an exhaustive one at that. Which is why I decided on a Yank. But after I send them a check here is a bunch of posts on LU clutch problems.

Did you do a search on Yank before you bought the converter? There have been a pretty good amount of people with the shudder problem. I think there are more out there without the problem than with if that makes you feel any better.

Are there reported shudder problems with the TP4400? I only read about them in the ST series.

I've had 4 Yank converters and 1 Yank Tranny. Never had any issues related to quality.

I've had my Yank ST3800 since April '01 and the shudder problem has just recently started. I sent Mike an email yesterday and he replied within hours saying I could sent the converter to him and turnaround time would be 3 days. We'll see.

my pt4200 shudders. did it from day one(of course, it only shudders if it decides to lock up). sent it back to Mike to have him check it out because we thought it was in the trany. fixed the trany, put in supposedly fixed converter and still shudders(of course, it only shudders if it decides to lock up). oh, and its not the trany because we installed another converter and it didnt seem to have a problem doing the job its supposed to do. i have a TCS on the way.

I've Had a Yank 3000 for about 3 years and no drivability problems. I have heard most of the problems are with the 00-01-02 models and with some of the ST models. Mike will fix it for you. Give him a call.

damn the shudder is that bad? it feels like your fillings are going to come out? wow, i thought it was a minor thing. at first i was really nervous and would look for any weird vibration, but it is hard to tell with my poly trans mount. now i hear it is a vibration that bad?

jeez, i have a yank ST4000 built in feb of 02 and have had no problems. no shudders feeling. maybe something in mine was built with something different internally.

JC, JC, JC... Don't worry about it!

I've got about 8,000 trouble free miles on my YPT4200. Daily driven. Only issue was with torque management at part throttle. Edit took care of that. I believe most problems with high stall TC's in our cars is the TM - you take off, then timing gets pulled, then added, etc - the tranny/TC doesn't know what to do and gets caught in the middle of locking/unlocking. JMHO, otherwise I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Yeah - I can pretty much guarantee that the shuddering problem I have is also not related to tuning. I am running a 200-4R - the torque converter lockup has nothing to do with tuning.

The shuddering I am having is under light to moderate acceleration with the converter locked - shakes the car like as if the engine were missing badly.

Whatever the case, I am switching to a TCS converter very soon - interested in trying those out for a number of reasons.

FYI, if you go to a big loose stall you should change the lockup speed, go like +5mph in LS1 Edit. I bet that shudder stuff you guys are talking about is mostly due to that... Factory lockup MPH and a 4600 stall for example causes a shudder.
