Default Valve body, help needed

I got my P1870 code (TCC Slip) checked out at a shop today, and was told I need a new valve body. They want $480 plus labor for a GM replacement that is special order. Is there any cheaper valve body I can get that is performance?

I appreciate any help, I don't know a lot about transmissions

We dont sell valve bodies stand alone however I am sure one of the sponsors here may be able to help you with that, Though you will still have to find someone to install it.

Mine didn't have the problem when I installed the TransGo SK, but a replacement valve in the kit is supposed to fix/prevent the slippage leading to P1870 setting. Maybe cause new valve rides in an unworn area of the valve bore? Always wondered if it could actually be a fix when code has already set, maybe you could be the guinea pig?

I also replaced the stock seperator plate with the TransGo plate. The stock one had a check ball stuck 1/2 way thru it, not uncommon I hear. One thing for sure, don't keep driving it like that or clutch might get toasted from slippage requiring converter replacement.

Does that kit come with a whole replacement valve body?

I'm looking at TCI's website and they are not specific if it comes with one or not

Maybe you should consider putting a shift kit in? Maybe drop the pan and see what the condition of the oil is first? If the pan is not full of debris a shift kit might be a much cheaper route to take. Feel free to give me a call next week to discuss your options. Vince

You could install the valve from TransGo, they run $12.00. It does not require any special tools, and it is a on/off valve now instead of a pwm type valve.

I'm still not understanding any of this, no performance transmission builder has a seperate valve body for sale? I talked to the shop again and they said the GM TSB on the problem called for a whole new valve body.

Thats because thats the only way they will service the problem , Each of the ways here will solve the issue trust me as long as the converter clutch is not allready damaged badly ,
