Default Vig-Yank reliable?

Well my fuddle took a **** and took my tranny with it....So im looking to get a new stall....Im just about sold on a Vig 3600....but i also was thinking Yank...Im looking to see how reliable they are....my car is a daily driver and the ocasional weekend warrior...(maybe 3 or 4 trips to the track per year)...it wont see any nitrous either....Im looking for something thats gonna last a good while and not take down another expensive *** tranny this quick....So for those who have experience let me know how long ur stall lasted and ur driving habits.,,,

Hey buddy.. I have ran both Yank and Vig and you can't go wrong with either. Currently running a Vig3600 in my stock 4L60E( getting ready to rebuild).. I have approx. 35K on my Vig... Had about 40-45K on the Yank when i sold it and still got $400.00 for it.

My car is a Daily driver, Heads, G5X3 cam.. bolt on's.. Your's and my car are a similar set up. Mine made 403/405 to the wheels, however, my tranny is starting to slip up top.

I have had my Vig for approx. 1.5 years.. and will send it in when the tranny is being rebuilt for a good cleaning, re-stall just for good measure.

I believe i paid approx. $725.00 for mine from Precision Industries.

Good luck, keep us posted.

The Vig3200 would be more in line with your previous converter. Imo the Vig3600 would be too loose for a daily driver since they are underrated.

Do a quick search on Vig3200 or Yank SS3600 and it would be very hard to find a thread or post with someone saying they are not happy with the converter.

Both Vig are Yank are very good.

Yea i did a search but all the results showed peoples opinions on what they thought was better instead of what im looking for.....I kinda want to see how long these 2 stalls will last in a car used as much as mine....Like PewterY2kZ....he says his have lasted over 30k...thats what i wanna hear...my fuddle didnt last but 10k if that.....My friend has a vig 3600 in his car and it feels fine but then again my fuddle was loose as hell!!...lol...were talking about me spining 3k to bearly stay ahead of traffic....the only thing is my buddy doesnt daily drive his so it doesnt have that many that many miles on it.

I just had a vig 3200 restalled because it was way to tight for me. It drove like stock and gave consistent 1.8 60 foots.

I run a Yank SS3600 in my daily driver. I love it, actually wish I had maybe gone a lil bit bigger as it feels stock to me when just driving around town. 3K in mine in a month and so far and I love it. Can't go wrong either way.

a vig and a yank are equal when it comes to reliability. look for which one you can get the best deal.

Word...I don't think you'll find the answer your looking for. Both are as reliable as you could want. Go with the best deal.

haha.. yeah I had a fuddle 3400 with the Exact same results as you! anyhow.. I went with a Vig 3600 and love it.. the converter is way tighter, generates less heat, and picked up 2 mph in the 1/4 over the fuddle 3400. I have put 30K on the Vig/FLT level 4 tranny I have now with no problems even in traffic stop and go, idling, nothing has phased it and its never skipped a beat! When I say daily drive I mean daily drive too.. I put on 40 miles a day 6 days a week.

I have put Yank 3500 stall in my stock 4L60E with 70K miles after I got it cleaned. Still running strong with 101K miles on the stock tranny.

I've had my Vig since 1996 and it's been flawless...I went 9 years and 40,000 miles with it before its first freshening, which I only did because the trans needed a rebuild and I wanted to make sure everything was fresh. It was a Vig3600 and was a great DD converter. Not too loose at all, in fact it drove like a stocker until you nailed it...I recently grenaded my output shaft in the trans and sent it back for a freshening/re-stall to 4000 and it still drives fantastic on the street, not too loose at all...I've got almost 51,000 miles on the car now and about 49,000 miles are with this converter...Like I said, its been freshened 2x, but never a failure, just preventative...

yank or vig are very solid units. go with whichever you can get the better deal on. what exactly failed on your fuddle converter? did you contact them about it?

From talking to you about this issue, your clutch went out because you never took care of pulse width modulation in your transmission, i.e. the shuttering. Be very, very careful when getting another converter as you still have this issue and wouldn't want to go through another clutch. There are 2 converters on the market that can generally handle this without you fixing it: our HP/Street and the multi disc Vigilante. Good luck. Let us know if you want to send it back for a refresh if selling.

That converter didnt do it the entire time i had it....it started to do it a couple months ago...i dont beleive there is a reason to all of a sudden have PWM issues out of no where.....im not a tranny expert so i dont know maybe thats the case, but i had the car tuned at TSP and they told me the converter didnt feel right and wouldnt u know it prolly 2 weeks later boom it went....

It would do this tho...say i left my apartment went to get on the highway..it would ride perfect even when locked up, but as soon as it unlocked once, cause say i had to slow down or something, once it locked again the vibrating was there.....if it was my fault that it blew then thats cool, im not trying to bash u.

U have been very helpful and i dont mean any disrespect.....I will be sending this one in to u to have it refreshed.......

for anyone still reading the thread i just picked up my brand new Vig 3600 from Texas Speed!!!
