Default TCI 3000 Lockup Problem

Got a used TCI SS3000 with 8k miles on it for my stock 98 z28. It won't lockup for me at all though. Stock converter worked fine with lockup. I've tried using HP tuners to command it manually in the VCM Tools, but it still gives no lockup even with PWM disabled. It's not even partially engaging. Is there anything else that I could be missing?

I'm not going to pay to have it pulled and sent off so if it's dead I'll just live without lockup and put a cooler on it.

Well aslong as there arent any peices floating around in that stall, u should theoretically ok aside from building loads of heat.....if there still peices in there they could possibly **** up ur pump and in turn trash the tranny....I know, it happened to me.

As long as there isn't anything that is going to mess up the trans (pieces of clutch) I can live without lockup on a converter that is this small. My other car has a TH400 (no lockup) and it does just fine making 800+ hp. I will add a cooler to this trans before summer though.

My only complaint is that I wish the seller would have told me so I could have sent it back for a rebuild vs installing it and finding out, that ticks me off.

Yes, I shot him a PM to see what he says. I'm wondering if there could be anything else wrong with it that I'm missing? I don't think he would intentionally sell me a bad converter looking at his past posts and sales. I've tried just about evrything I can think of from a tuning standpoint though. I even tried running max line pressure to see if the clutch was slipping but it was still a no go.

I did recently tune a car that had a tci 3500 stall in it that was brand new but didn't have a functioning lockup. After driving around for a while and manually trying to engage the clutch through HP Tuners scanning software I got it to start working. It was stuck or something. That car has been fine since and the lockup working fine.

Im having the same issue with my stall except i have had 2 new ones put in and neither locked. I did check the shaft oring which was fine and now looking to see if its a tuning issue.

I know mine isn't a tuning issue, it's mechanical.

I got some lockup in 3rd gear this morning but it would only hold light accelleration even with full pressure (set force motor table to 0ma). Scanner said it was locked even when it started to slip. It doesn't seem to hold lockup at all in 4th.

I've got a new tune ready to flash that makes sure it never locks up and keeps the car out of 4th gear unless I exceed 48mph. I have 3.08's in my 12 bolt so driving around in 3rd isn't bad at all in town. Stall only flashes to 2700 so it's super tight. Trans temps match my coolant temps. Just have to get a cooler on it before the 115 degree days of summer are here.

It seemed like I had a little slip at higher loads on my stock converter. I never scanned for it to check though. If the o-ring is bad on the input shaft will it cause any other issues besides lack of lockup? Previous owner said it locked up fine for him and trans fluid looked good when it was pulled and I believe him. Looks like the problem is mechanical on my end.
