Help with picking out Converter
Hey guys, having a hard time choosing a converter. I don't have a cam, stock 3.23's but I have BF Goodrich DR's. I have been thinking about TCI's Breakaway which is a 2400-2600 stall. I am worried if I go any higher it will sound like crap on the street, but I am worried if I don't go high enough I won't be happy when I put some more power to the ground(w/o heads and cam and w/o new gears). So due to that I am also thinking about Yank's 2800. Now I don't know much about companies so going with Yank sounds a little iffy to me compared to going with much more widly known TCI. What do you guys think?
We are not as widly know as either but I would suggest our 9,5 3000 with a 1.69 STR it will deliver what your looking for. I guarantee it

based on personal experience only, no disrespect to Performabuilt. 4L60E wise, Yank is the best. I've owned yank's, tci's, fuddle's and have had many friends with vig's.
As far as stall size goes, even for the most mild apps, I feel anything under 3500 is a waist. I went through a dumb streak once where I had the idea I was going to make my car more streetable. So I pulled out my big cam and replaced it with an ls6 cam and pulled out my Yank 4400 and replaced it with a Tci 3000. The 3000 stall was in my car for about 3 weeks before I pulled out and put a 4200 stall back in. I just couldnt handle weakness of the low stall. this is when my car was a DD.

You will find that most guy's will prefer the Yank or the Vig converters. I think that a 2400-2600 would be a waste of time and money. IMO a 3200 VIG would be good for your car to keep it quite streetable and also allow you to have some fun at the strip. The yanks are a little different depending on which one you get. But I'm sure some guy's will chime in. Vince

Just keep your money if you're going with a stall under 3500. As far as stall brand, go with either Yank or Vig. There are the two most trusted aftermarket torque converter in Fbody world.

theres a little info on stalls and what to look for when buying one...not sure what your knowledge is of them but its great for some basic info on them.
