Default How many have a stall on the stock 4l60e

I'm thinking about throwing an ss 3600 on my rebuilt 4l60e. The guy I bought it from, told me it was rebuilt. I doubt it will last. I was curious what kind of luck you guys have had on stock trannys. Thx

Like how long did the tranny last after the stall was installed?

What size of stall?

Style of driving? Agressive? DD? Track car?

putting a 4000 pi on mine in the next week or so.. just gotta warm up.. just make sure you put a tranny cooler on and youll be fine.. gas wont drop too much.. normal pick ups go from like 16-1700.. i DD and track mine as well.. i put on about 30 miles a day..

ive had mine on for 10,000 miles, knock on wood not a problem with it so far. 3200ss yank, daily driven, and floored on a daily basis.

transmission coolers are VERY helpful

You should't have any problems @ all... Now once you add some HP to the car H/C..etc...
This is when your L60E will tend to slip..

Throw that stall in and enjoy... It is one of the single BEST mod's you can do to an A4.

I'll be adding a cam too. Shooting for 400rwhp and 380 tq. So maybe that's when my luck will change, adding the cam...

thx guys, I feel a little better about doing it now. I hope it lasts at least 2 summers, then I'll rebuild it or get a well-built 4l80e

SS3600, nice choice. Just don't forget the tranny cooler (B&M Supercooler) and maybe a shiftkit. It's not cheap, but WAY worth it.

It's got a shift kit already. Are the coolers from summit the best to go with? Which one? Does it come with everything I need?

yep, i got the stock tranny and 10-bolt and hope it lasts a couple of summers at least. right now my bill will be 4k after wheels and tires, cam, stall, shocks, springs etc. so i don't want to add a built tranny and 12-bolt to the list just yet...praying...

your 10 bolt will be fine. as long as you dont go to the track all the time and get some serious power and a bigger stall..ive had 2 stalls in my stock tranny with now 90k miles on it...ive had it stalled for maybe 25k of that time..first with a fuddle 3200 and now a ss3600 im thinking of goin pt4000 now..but i think ill wait untill he bites the dust..all i have done to my tranny is a deep pan b&m 24k cooler and a tranny temp gauge.. just take care of it..keep her cool and change the fuild regularly (cheap insurance) and she will last

The tranny will eventually die unless you aren't drag racing and hooking all the time with more than stock power. H/C, etc.

I DD a stock 4l60e with a transgo shift kit and vigilante 3200. No probs here and a few trips to the tack with bolt on's running low 13's and high 12's

I've had my ss3600 for over 20,xxx miles. on a stock tranny, The tranny has its little hicups everyonce in awhile but still shifts fine. I have a stage two getting ready to go in next week though. Just for added insurance....

I had a Fuddle 4400 with 2.2 STR w/ a tranny cooler on my bolt-on only LS1 w/ 2.73s and MT ET Streets for 5,000 miles before the motor bit the dust. I put in the motor in my sig and I made it seriously less than 500 miles.

Daily drive mine, stock tranny with a stall/tuned, bolt ons/tuned, 3.42. Once in a while it goes to the track. Installed the stall @ 75K miles. I'm at 104K miles and still rockin'.
