i hear lots of talk about how much heavier it is than a 60e, i'd like to know just how much...i've got some wiggle room to maybe even go with a t56 in my application, but i'd like to go with an 80e if its not TOO heavy. any help would be greatly apreciated

I believe its like 60-80 lbs its worth the extra weight if its alot stronger IMO.

80 lbs isnt that bad at all...i'll just take out the back seats lol. seriously though, i do plan on taking out a decent amount of weight through all moly suspension an k-member, NOT going with an iron block etc

i wish pcs would just come out with a controller for the 6l80e already...

Yup I've ready about 75lbs extra, iron block another 75lbs and a 9'' about 35lbs in which I am doing all along with a turbo kit with a A2W intercooler. Can you say weight savings time!

It wasn't that much heavier than my 4L60e. Huge improvement IMO. It has a slightly diff gearing which allows 55-60mph in 1st gear with a 6500rpm or so shift w/ 2.73s, which allows for an easy 3second 0-60 time with traction, which in my opinion, utterly negates the weight =) I stripped off a lot of weight too but it was the cheap stuff (seats, carpet padding, etc.) but I do not think it was a wise move. Now the lightweight k-members, chromoly instead of mild steel, etc., that would be worth it because it wouldn't destroy the comfort the **** I took out did. Good luck

As far as the 6L80e lacking a controller, couldn't you just use full manual valve bodies?

Yup I agree with the wieght reductions, there is a limit to which is worth it on the street, etc. Interior is not at all, IMO. As for some exterior and upgraded lighter parts on the other hand in any situation is. I will draw the line for what is worth it and what not. As for jsut going to the track a couple quick reductions in cab could save about 100lbs or so.

Yeah its around 75lbs or so. I couldnt remember the exact amount but I did a weight compairison when I did my swap. I was really concerned about it though, the only weight reduction I have it the spare tire and egr lol. Oh and Fikse's if that counts. Its worth it just to not have to put up with the 4LshittyE anymore.
