"OD" vs. "3rd" or "D" for WOT 4L60E driving, which do you use?

OK are you ready for this.
The PCM only allows a 2 gear downshift.
So if you are in 4th at 40mph and slam it the PCM says OK down to 2nd then after being in second for a short while it says, hum, still WOT, less than xxxx rpm, downshift to 1st.
When in 3rd at 40mph and slam it PCM says OK down to 1st.
I can not remember the source but I remember reading this somewhere.

As a stock car, I ran the fastest time in D instead of OD at the track and I ran many times. As a head and cam car, I leave it in OD because I would hit the rev limiter. So you have to experiment at the track and see which <img border="0" alt="[burn out]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_burnout.gif" /> works best for your car. Cheeers.
