Default Need some help, trans is stuck!

Ok guys, I'm yankin the auto for a T56 but its stuck. I got all the bolts out, TC bolts are out, TC is pushed back. The trans seems to be stuck on the alignment pins.

We've tried heatin' them up, spraying lots of PB blaster on them, and generally shaking the **** out of the trans in all directions. What else can we do? It hasnt even budged at all. The bellhousing is still FLUSH with the motor!

HELP!!!!

Takes two people to be safe. Remove the starter. Take a long pry bar and get up in the starter pocket. Find a place to pry between motor and the trans. Do not pry on the flex plate! Lower the jack until there is very little tension on the jack. Have one guy pry and the other start to wiggle by holding on the tail of the trans. A few choice curse words along with this procedure normally work. Are you sure that you have all of the bolts removed? Not trying to be a jerk but it happens. Here is a photo of all the holes that should have bolts removed. I have circled them here in red.

I used the exact method that Vince outlined above and it finally came off. Just be patient and keep working at it. Be careful so you don't gouge any metal. Be gentle when prying and it'll finally slip off. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips. After looking at that pic I'm positive we've gotten all the bolts out.

What if I've already been prying on the flexplate ? ... alot.

Nothing needs to go back onto the car as I'm swapping in a T56, that auto is in **** shape anyway.

Guess it doesn't matter if your not reusing it. Missed that part. I think the block is a little more solid. Just be carefull as to where you pry as mentioned above. Let me know if you are looking to get rid of that a4.

I definitely will need to get rid of it. Its not in much shape for anything other than a rebuild, the fluid that came out of it was BLACK and the thing shifted like ****. Shoot me a PM

Can those pins be replaced if drilled out ? I think they may be mushroomed on one end.

Do they stay in the motor or the trans?

The gold star goes to performabuilt!

We hooked up a chain hoist to the rear and around the tail shaft and got it as tight as possible. Gave it a few good cranks with the pry bar and POP! she goes
