Default Did i make a mistake buying a Yank SS3600??

I just recieved my yank ss3600. I have not installed it yet. But now i am seeing alot of hype about TCI and alot of feed back about yanks shuttering alot. I dont need ANY problems with my car since it runs good now. I just need to get rid of the dry spots on my A4.(40 punch) Anyone have anything good about this converter? Has Yank solved the shutter with this new series? Thanks!

I have the Yank SS3800. I've put about 2500 miles or so with zero problems. This is my daily driver, so I was in the same boat and didn't want any problems. So far, everything has been great. No shutter, and awesome performance. No hard numbers as the snow just keeps falling and falling in Virginia. I think the new SS line is a better converter than those that had shutter problems. I'd install the Yank and enjoy the ride. I did.

The clutch in the SS Series of converters is totally new. There was a ton of work that went into making one that would lock-up hard, not chatter, and last a long time. So far, there have been no reports of problems. Rest easy, you bought the best converter money can buy IMO.

The SS is also a bigger diameter converter than those that had chatter. The chatter issues were primary with the smaller ST and some YTP units.

Hey TWIMC, We had chatter proplems with a few yanks we addressed the problem with a transgo shift kit. Then when it finished off the trans we did them and everythings hooking now.The convertor is only as good as the tranny operating it.It's a slave to the tranny. Quality work ain't cheap and cheap work ain't quality! All of the yanks I've worked with have all been top quality, I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder.Just my two cents worth.

I've a Yank Y3200 for over 2 years with no probems. I can't explain the shudder problems, but Yank makes a excellent converter, especially for the LS1. You made a good choice, but if some reason you decide not to install it, I will buy it from you. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I've got a Super Thruster 3000 with a kevlar clutch and experienced chatter problems.
After 4 oz. of Lube Gard Friction Modifier and a B&M Shift+, it's a lot better but still a PITA sometimes. I was going to get it upgraded but by the time I paid for 2 installs, the upgrade and shipping, I decided on a new converter. I ordered a SSS3600 after a lot of investgation.
The TCI evaluation on Yank's website pretty much elliminated that one.
The TCS and Midwest converters weigh considerably more than this one.
The SS series supposedly drives like a 2800 until you hit it.
