Default Need A Tranny Cooler

Can anybody recommend a good tranny cooler to with with my recently ordered Vigilante 3200. I haven't researched the subject and don't know anything about which is better than the other. If anyone can help steer me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks In Advance!

I bought the B&M cooler from Speed inc.

I don't have a tranny temp guage, but I haven't had any problems. Speed inc. said that they measured 20 degree cooler temps with the B&M Supercooler. It's only like 55 bucks too. Hope this helped.

I put a B&M cooler in after my TC install - highly recommend them. BTW, you'll absolutely love the Vig.

Here is a quote from LS1.com

Hope his helps.....

Trans cooler and temps
I just installed my B&M 24,000 GVW trans cooler along with some ls1edit fan changes on a stock t-stat. My low speed fan comes on at 185 now and stays on. This helps get the fluid a bit cooler before it heads to the BM cooler. Not sure how much it helps.

Before the cooler and fan changes, my tranny temps were pretty commonly over 200 degrees on the stock trans cooler. After the install I got the following readings.

I did 30-45 minutes of hard shifting, 125 shot pulls, rolls etc. The highest temp I saw as about 162 degrees. Needless to say it works pretty good.

I posted the above info on ls1.com

I would suggest the BM 24,000 GVW one. I paid 78 shipped from thunder but I live in alaska so shipping is usually higher.

Ive been loggin temps everyday now, it was 50 degrees today and my temps didnt get over 165 today driving around for about 2 hours. Im sure with hotter weather the temps will rise some, but im not sure how much.

Good Luck

check out this thread, I posted some pics of which one is the return line since it seems to be a common question

Another vote for B&M. I had a 24,000 GVW on my `87 Formula with a 3000 stall converter and I have one on my `02 witha 4400 stall and it seems to be working great. I personally wouldn`t go any smaller than 24,000 GVW reguardless of which brand. Just my opinion.

Rob- If you haven't ordered a cooler yet I have a brand new still in the box B&M supercooler 24,000 GVW I'll sell you. 45 bucks to your door. Same one Tbyrne is selling for 64.99+ shipping. I bought it from a local speed shop and when the time came to install it I decided I wanted a different size (new mounting location.) The shop won't do any exchanges without a receipt and I don't have it any more. Let me know if you are interested.
Later,

Bryce - I did order a cooler yesterday, or at least I
think I did. The guy I get most of my perform has been away this week - his wife is having a baby - so I left him a message to get one for me. If something
happens (or doesn't happen) I will let you know.
Thanks, I appreciate the offer!

Hey Rob, I'm installing a vig3200 on the 27th and just put on a 18,000 gvw cooler.... the 24,000 was 30-50 more around here so I went with a CT version which I believe is made by B&M for them. Are you installin it yourself or a shop in the GTA...the vig ??

PS. already some impressive #s for the mods

I work at a GM dealership and have access to our shop, so I will be doing it myself there somewhat. We have a great tranny guy who has a C5 who I will get to help me. I just might actually let him do it by himself. I'd probably just end up getting in the way. A couple of hours and he'll have the Vig 3200, the cooler and the shift kit in. I'm lucky working there - I save a lot of cash on labour. A case of beer is all it usually takes!
