Circle D vs. yank
I currently have the SS3200 from Yank and love it. But I'm constantly modding my car and have purchased a new SS3600 from Yank. Currently a tripping hazard on the floor in the bedroom but I'm eager to install it once I've got a new transmission lined up.
I have a yank py3600 and I cant tell you how many problems I have had with it. Would foot brake to 1700-1800 on the foot brake behind a 408 in a 5000 pound truck. Came apart about 5 times and is still not right. I would never buy a yank again.
sucks to hear that man! thats one of the reasons why i went with another brand was cuz on some old searches i seen a couple people have issues with there yanks. but i hear that was awhile back now though.
We will only rebuild a converter 3 times and we want more details on this!
Either one will satify you, but experiencing them both is the only way to really choose which one goes beyond satisfaction for you. Both will hold up great, so the only factor is which one YOU think feels better. I have only run VIG to this point and loved it and I would give positive feedback to anyone who asks. That said, you never know until you try out the competition and I have full intentions of running either a YANK or CircleD in my current project car so I have a point of comparison. Which, one first, I can't decide.

Reading all these comments puts a big smile on my face
, looks like I am doing my job. While I don't have quite the number of performance converters Yank has, I am extremely proud of our torque converters. A lot of R&D has gone into them, and it has proven itself in some of the fastest LS1's. We pride ourselves on our quality and customer service, not quantity. We have been building converters for over 30 years, my dad started Circle D in 1976. We started advertising on Tech about a year ago and have seen a huge increase in our LS1 sales. Thanks for helping us grow!

now we just need someone to compare a yank and circle d converter...id be very intersteed in et and MPH differances....in similar stal speeds...i liked the yank for efficiency but the guys at yank are kinda cut and dry not the greatest at spending a few minutes talking to someone about buying a converter...not that i really needed to but kinda seemed like i was getting rushed off the phone both times ive called...
on another note im very satisfied with my converter and have no desire to change it drives great and ss3600 on a 110 shot cut a 1.42 2nd pass out...about to hit it with more spray

by Circle-D (I take Hempstead Hwy when 290 is clogged up) - I've yet to
stop in . . . the shop is ultra-clean, based on my drive-by's
I sent mybrother to them, based on posts out in these forums (and elsewhere). He
had his tranny rebuilt and he continues to speak highly about the experience.
One day, during one of my drive-by's, I'll stop in and talk to Chris.

This is his first and only converter, but I bet it shook him up on his first test drive.lol. It's a huge difference over stock. Not a bad choice really. He did good no doubt, but there was/is room for improvement IMO. It's all about being satisfied with your purchase.
I personally compare myself to a Stock Eliminator car. You have to have the edge and be on top of your game or you are classified as a looser. I don't do the looser thing to often

Circle D has put us in the winners circle too many times not to recognize them for what they do for the LS1 world.
Another happy Circle D customer here. My first 'stalled' car so I cant blame anybody for that but I enjoyed the tour around the clean shop. Chris showed me everything that goes into their converters, inside, out as well as all their machines they have behind the scenes. The only snag was ups delivering a part but that's an apple over an orange. I've heard legendary good stories about Circle D even way before they stepped into the scene here.
I'm a happy Circle-D customer. A friend of mine has been running their converters in Mustangs for a few years and he recommended that I look into them. I did a little research, discussed some things with Chris @ Circle-D and James (TXCAMSS) and went ahead and bought the converter that they recommended. I love it so far. It drives decent on the street, but it really comes alive at WOT. It certainly helps that James and I are running pretty similar combos, with my car being just a hair heavier.
I'd like to say thanks to Chris for supplying me with this bad *** converter, and thanks to James for the insight and recommendation. I'll definitely give Circle-D a call for any of my converter needs from now on.

I just wanted to add that I have run both of the popular brands in my car as well. Some people recommend things just because they own them, not because they honestly think that they're the best. I'm not saying that any brand of converter is junk. There's nothing wrong with a Yank or a Vig, I was just that impressed with my Circle-D.
