Tranny leaking around 'big round connector'
Just got my 4l80e installed and started filling it up. It is leaking toward the rear of the driver's side where the big round connector is. What is this connector? I don't have any of the wiring harness hooked up yet. I noticed I can push in on the connector as well and it will go back into the tranny.

Yes the connector will slide back into the tranny. I'll do some digging tomorrow but it may be tough to get a pic of it. This is a brand new tranny I should add. Is the O ring replacable?

If you have a brand new trans that is doing this contact who you got it from and make them send you a new harness. I find that used harnesses will do what is happening here. I always replace internal harnesses when building 4l60e or 4l80e transmissions just to eliminate the simple problem that you are having. Vince

There is also and aftermarket retainer that can be attached to the pressure solenoid retainer inside the pan to stop the plug dropping in the pan cavity just in case.

I bought the tranny from a member on here so the builder probably wont' give me much support. Is the harness something I can change? With the tranny on the car? Just by looking it appears I could drop the pan and it may be right there.

Mine did the same thing when I first swapped to the 80e. I didnt cut a hole for the plug and once the crossmember was bolt up it pushed the connector in the trans about 1/4in or so and leaked all the time. I dropped the trans, cut a square, dropped the pan slid the connector back out and put everything back together. Been fine every since.
