So I have been told by others and from what I have seen at car shows that my A4 may be rare because it has a functional 1st gear I can control. Seems like all the 93-94's I have seen do not have this option..is this true and if so does anyone know how many of these were made??

i dont think its rare, i can put mine into first too.

From what I understand only the 2.73 geared cars had 1st locked out with the stop

I've seen a lot of the same years as ours and none of them had a 1st gear that you could use..so we just might..

The 2.73 cars without Z-Rated tires from the factory had first gear blocked off by a small plate that was easily removed. They were also speed limited, but I don't remember off the top of my head what the speed was.

Yeah its not rare, the 3.23 cars all had 1st in the gear selector while the 2.73 cars did not. You could however go in there and take something out and be able to put it in first with the 2.73 equipped cars.

If it's the same with the LT1 cars as it is with the LS1s, it's only the 2.73 cars that did not have Z-Rated tires. The 2.73 cars that came with Z-Rated tires from the factory weren't speed limited, and had a manually selectable "1" (like mine). By the way- That's an awesome lookin' Formula you've got there

thanks man Im loving yours as well! I want to say it was diff with the LT1 cars but I could be wrong.
