Default 02 C5 rear end removal

Hey everyone..Can someone tell me if there is a thread on here somewhere about removing the rear clip of the C5 vette? I bought a TCI Converter and a 3.42 rear gear from a Z06 and somebody told me I could just drop the whole rear subframe. I'd like to do that if it all possible. Thanks for the help.

Well that is how it is done.

But I'm going to have to say this... if you have to ask then it might be that you pay someone to do it so that you do not make a significant mistake. The industry average is only $400.00 -$450.00 for that job.

Feel free to give us a shout if you need help during the job.

It's not that I'm afraid to do the work but it's just easier to look at a picture of the whole undercarriage to see what needs to come apart. I've already got the rear end and all the rear subframe apart but does the whole torque tube come out or can I just undo the trans halves?

its easier to take the whole tube down. there are only 5 bolts up front plus one that is on the shaft inside.

Removing the entire torque tube assy is just added work.

If you remove the converter bolts the rear drivetrain assy will seperate very easily... same as a tranny from an engine would.

Well..I got everything out and laying on the floor and what do you know the converter wouldn't engage all the way into the pump so I beleive they sent me the wrong converter. It's a TCI super Street Fighter #242932. I'm not sure if it fits the C5 Vettes or the Camaro's and T.A.'s. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong or something but from past converter installs this one just doesn't fit right.
