Default Will a higher stall help my idle & driveability

New to this forum.. Just put in a mild LT4 Hot Cam in my '94 Z28. I had to up the idle to 800 in drive and 825 in P/N. Problem is two fold 1- going from N to D the engine bogs to 625 stumbles a bit and takes 5 or so seconds for the IAC to recover to 800 and then idles smoothly. 2nd - When in D at 800 RPM it feels like I need two feet on the brake to keep it stopped at lites, etc. When it's running cold at higher RPMs I throw it in N to get it stopped smoothly on hills. With foot on brake the rear wheels brake loose at 1500 RPM. Stock stall s/b 1800, is mine acting normal ? Will a higher stall fix the idle bog when shifting from N to D, and eliminate the feel like it wants to runaway in drive. If so is a 2800 stall what I need or larger ?

Yes a looser converter will help out significantly.

Converter will fix all of that. Until then try running a 125rpm difference from park to drive, and lower your in gear idle to 775 or 750. That should help with your pulling through the brakes.

Give Circle D a call they have one that will work prefect for you.

i have the same setup as you and i have the same driveability problems. the car almost overpowers the stock stall and just wants to GO! brake pedal is real hard. some days are better then others but yeah it sounds exactly like mine. the only thing different is my car has no problem coming to a stop like yours. i can leave it in drive. so i dont know...

im buying a new trans and a 3,000 stall from performabuilt either today or tomorrow!! so im hoping the higher stall helps those problems

A higher stall will certainly solve both of your issues. Of course a little tuning may be required after install depending on the size stall you get

Higher stall and a Rapid tune eliminated my cam surge, rough shifting, idle problems, all of it.
