Are those two solenoids the same part #? I have a NON-PWM 4L80E that I want to run behind my LQ9 engine and PCM and am trying to figure out how to make it work. From what I've been able to gether if I pick up the PWM solenoid and a 95+ internal wiring harness I should be all set?

Is there a different way to go about making this work?

No the 4l80E pwm/tcc solenoid is a completely different solenoid then what is used in the 60E series transmissions.

I guess what I meant to ask is in a 95+ 4L80E there are two PWM/TCC solenoid, right? Are those two the same? And are they also the same as the one solenoid found in a pre '95 80E?

Are we talking about a 60E or an 80E here?

They are all PWM.

No just one lockup solenoid is used on a 4l80e.

All years used the same style solenoid.

Well, now I am confused. I contacted psiconversions about making a standalone harness for my LQ9 with a 4L80E, and they informed me that would be no problem so long as my 80E was '95 or newer because that's when GM switched to PWM. All the research that I've done supports this, and you're the first person that has said otherwise?

Nope. I have the 1991 Technicians manual for a 4L80E, and it definitely has PWM.

Okay... is the internal harness or anything different on the early model 80s or will it work with the lq9 pcm and harness just the way it sits?

You will be fine with what you have for the external harness connector. The first couple of years there was a different case connector plug that was used but what you have with your trans is still being used today. HTH Vince

I spent hours and hours looking for this info!!! THis should be a sticky! I have found a lot of info saying i cannot use my 94 4l60E and stall with my ls1 swap due to the pwm issues. This is a free fix for me and i can infact use it! THANKS PERFORMABUILT!! PS Thanks for also confirming this info over the phone as well!
