Re: Is it a good idea to use mobil 1 atf in our transmissions? Doc, 6-speeds use Dextron III ATF. And yes, slipperier is a word (it's an comparative adjective, NOT a verb, btw) meaning...
1. causing sliding: likely to cause somebody or something to slip
2. hard to hold firmly: sliding easily from the grasp or from a position

Re: Is it a good idea to use mobil 1 atf in our transmissions? I run M1 in my race powerglide. I think the real difference is for cars that are going to get the atf fluid hotter than normal. If you are going to see these higher temps, due to say a real high stall, the M1 is less apt to break down. Don't hold me too the numbers but I believe 250 degrees starts a normal atf break down and 300 starts M1.
