Default Another 4l80E Trans brake question.

Ok guys another 4l80E Trans brake question.

Yes I did a search and sorted the search by date
and the 4L80E TB posts get old fast, so what’s new?

There are several companies building TB’s for
the 4L80E, who’s got the best one for a fully
E-controlled trans.

I’m using Big Stuff 3 for the controls.

I read these instructions on line for one that said
that you have to throttle up the motor if it has a “slow engagement”

http://rpmtransmissions.com/files/transbrake.pdf
Read the second line under Operating Instructions.

And also how fast is the release compared to a Glide
with a brake.

The only company that I am aware of that actually makes the brake is Carl Rossler. We buy direct from Carl and I know RPM does as well. The brake is slower than a powerglide, th350 or th400 IMO. It is really just the nature of the beast with the 4l60e and the 4l80e. If you want a brake with one of these transmissions it is what it is. Vince

Has Rossler made the brake work with a manual valve body yet?

Here’s another one I found and they say
“unlike the others” as if there’s more than
one on the market.

I’ve been aware of Carl Rossler’s TB.

I know that there are different Glide TB’s
like the “pro tree” TB that is very quick.

I’m just looking to see what the market has to offer.
I know if any body would know you F-Body guys would know.

This is an all new 4L80e/4L85e transbrake Unlike the others, this patent pending design will fit in your existing pan and work with your production controls. It is designed to work with either the 4L80e or 4l85e transmission. This unique design will give your street rod a quick launch off the line. It is easy to install and does not require modifying your pan or buying some expensive aftermarket bottom pan. This will also work in the full manual shifted valve body we offer. As for the 4l80 or 4l85 transmissions. The "E" Stand for electronic so if it is manually shifted it is simply a 4L80 or 4L85 Transmission. We also offer our easy to install.

Last I heard he was working on it for the 4l80e. Not sure about the 60 but that is a good question.

I have not seen that brake. Thanksforthenonsponsoredlinkcough. It looks like what they have done is eliminate the 2-3 and 3-4 accumulators in order to use the solenoid. Also there is a plate on the valve body/manifold side, that gets installed. I would have to guess that there is some drilling being done on the valve body to redirect the oil. Tell you what. Buy a trans from me, buy the brake from them, and I'll install the brake for free. I like to try new things. Vince

I’m sorry for stepping on any vender’s toes
by posting the link.

What I’m looking for is some one that has raced a 4l80E
with a TB that can give me some real world feed back.

With all the members on here with fast cars and the
700R4/4L60E/4l65E being a panty waste there’s bound
to be somebody putting some real heat on the 4L80E that can help here.

The "non-sponser" link is the same people that used to advertise a stand alone controller for a 6L80E. Now it's not on the site. They kept saying it was patent pending, like the trans brake.
