blew my 4L60E..
Personally I got tired of shredding the 4L60E's that I had and decided to go with a Built T56..less maintenance and more fun for me.
I figure a built T56 from Six Speeds Inc will be less maintenance and hold up better.
I'm going to have the 4L65E that I have been using re-built and put it in my Truck when the time comes..atleast put some of the money I have in it to use..

Good luck in the hunt for a transmission, that was one of the most expensive and critical decisions in our hunt for more power/speed/reliability as well!

Maybe a bad idea? Or are you talking more serious power?
Maybe I should sell it before destroying it?

Rebuilding with the better servos and parts is definately a start, but in my experience transmissions are a touchy, and often, a "luck of the draw" sort of endevour. Our stock 4L60E with a converter lived behind a near full weight SS running a 10.42 @ 130 and never missed a beat. Heck we only pulled it to donate it to another racer who is using it to run 10.3's and is still alive and well. Although this is the exception and definately not the rule...
I am sure that you will be fine if you are running around what your transmission tech told you would be good for the life of the transmission. I expect that the 4L6X transmissions will require more TLC and more frequent refreshening than say a TH350, TH400, or 4L80E; especially with high torque applications.
YMMV
just this last wednesday, i put on longtubes, ory, to magnaflow, 373's, brand new posi, i already had the slp intake package, and my car made 312 horse and 314 torque in 98 degree heat.
my dad yesterday took the car out to get lunch and did a huge burnout. and after that it started making a extremely loud humming noise. it sounds like an eaton supercharger on a cobra.
help me lol

Get a transmission from one of the vendors on here, I seriously think that all the vendors here put thier soul and hard effort into building great piece's for all the guys here. Why settle for anything less. If I had the money I'd be rocking one of these vendors transmission in my car, and proudly be sporting their shop decal knowing I have a 60e that will finally hold up.
