Default No 4th gear after super servo install

As the title says. I need help. I installed a super servo today. The transmission shifted fine before. But I had a servo laying around, so I decided to install it. And now no 4th gear. I have spent the last 2 hours double checking everything. Please help.

I could be wrong but if I remember there's a washer that you might have forgot.Do a search because that happened to me.I did a search for you, this was from Vince at FLT"Did you use the sonnax 4th servo? If so did you install the gold washer on the pin? This washer is about the size of a quarter. If you did not install it I believe this is your problem". Vince

The kit has 2 billet pieces, 3 metal washers,1 retaining clip, 1 spring, 2 rubber orings and 2 friction rings. They are calling it a intermediate servo.

This is the superior/fairbanks servo. I'll take a look at some old ones I have laying around to see if something comes to mind. You said it came with two friction rings?????? Are you talking about the Teflon seals? Make sure that you did not clip the ring on the 4th servo when installing the the servo cover. Vince

Did you by chance try to put the little spring back under the e clip and washer? it would be about as round as a dime and hard to put in, If so you will have no 4th ?
It would originally have been in that position between the stock servo and the washer

Yes they are teflon seals, sorry. I did notice once the servo assembly was put back together that it alot of play. The 2 billet servo pieces had around 3/8 of an inch of play between them. That is with the thick washer above the first E clip and also with the spacer washer installed. I was not sure if that was normal or not.

Ok and you are using the stock 4th servo and cover correct ? If so remove the cover and check that you didn't damage the teflon ring on the servo inside it. How may miles are on the trans?

Yes it is the stock 4th servo and cover. Trans has around 40k. I will recheck.

On a side note. You dont recomend using the superior servo with a stock band do you?

No I have seen it tear right through the band lug or tear the rivets loose on the other side. But anyway check that if its good holler back and I will have something else for you don't put it back in there is more we can check this isn't hard to figure out really it will be simple

I will check it first thing in the morning. Im not scarred to pull it out and go with a corvette servo if thats a better choice.

Well lets get it out and look at it first and go from there you can always reach me by phone if i am not on here ok

But if it is a stock band the corvette servo may indeed be the better choice but then assuming this is and f body car you already had that. The largest servo I would run with a stock band would be the corvette and maybe the sonnax IMO

The transmission is out of a 99 ss. But I looked at the part number once I removed it and it did not match. I will get the old servo out of my tool box in the morning and double the part number.

Thats up to you, It make be ok with the big servo particularly if you don't have a shift kit to or the line pressure tuned up in tuning excessively, The servo however will certainly give you a much firmer 1-2 and a somewhat firmer 2-3 shift, And don't feel bad about knocking of that ring we have all done it. How do you think we know what to look at so quickly lol
