Default measure it

measure it and see what the overall diameter is, that'll help a little. Better stall converters are smaller in size, 8 to 10".

Stockers are a little bigger.

Its obviously not a stock stall, but honestly it sounds like a cheap one, sorry to say it but you really should ditch it and buy a know good brand converter so that the one you have dosent end up tearing up that new transmission.

there are too many threads here on ls1tech where someone went with a cheap stall and it trashed one or more transmissions.

my yank is dark red also, but the paint is high quality and there is a sticker on it with the stall speed and brand name, and there is a big sticker around the dowel/post ( proper name? ) that sticks out of the front of it about 6" in diameter.

Good ones cost around $700-800 and some are even upwards of 900-1000...

We really need to see a picture of your converter to try and figure out what it is.

Hmm just look at these threads about converters, a TCI converter was opened up in one thread and they pointed out all the issues with cheap converters. If yours dosen't have good paint I doubt it has very good internals.

Here is one way to find out if its of high quality or just a lower end one. Look at the mounting tabs where they mount to the cover, if they are welded on its not a upper end unit, upper end units use a billet aluminum cover that is cnc'd with mounting tabs as part of the cover.

Mine is 945 new, found it used in excellent condition for 575 shipped. If you look around look for a Vigilante, Yank, Circle D, thats the names I know. I really like my yank.

How much RWHP?
Power adders?
Street or strip or both?

Ill find the link to the converter cut open in a minute.

Well I would say if yours is questionable then I would have concerns with keeping it and putting it with a new transmission, did you find out what took out the last one?

This is just my opinion though it may be fine, im not saying yours is trash just reminded me of that thread that I posted when I read this thread
