The engine alone was around $4,200, which is more than a brand new SS would have cost you. A 1969 ZL1 Camaro would run a tad over $7,000.

Even in those days, the factory built race cars were outrageously expensive.

I am sure GM will make a Camaro ZL1 again if Ford pushes them (and its financially viable). They did it in 2002, why not do it now?

these arent intended to be raced by joe schmoe at test n tune; theyre already approved for "A" stock (NHRA), basically a class for the 3 brands to go at it. Dodge has their car built but isnt approved for a stock yet.

Yes, the ZL1 was nice too. Do you get your jollies off by knocking down SOMETHING? And "driven by 2 pro drivers" doesn't mean ****, since it was their first time driving the cars. One guy got a 10.0 out of it. That's what the car is capable of. Quit bitching

Granted I'd just buy an '05 on the cheap, strip it, cage it, and throw a big motor in it for half the $$. But thats just me, dreaming about having too much time and money.

I'll give Ford the credit for actually producing it, I'll give them credit for what the car can do.

I'll leave my thoughts about the styling of recent Mustangs out of this as I want to emphasize the above two. They actually built the damn things, and they perform. Much like the Prowler, original Viper, SRT-10 truck, even the dumdumdumdumdum...I wasn't digging the styling at all but I had to totally hand it to them for producing them.

I am sure now that Ford & Chrysler have there version of a Factory built Super Stock Car in the Mustang & Challenger they will build a Camaro version also.Eventhough i have owned 26 Camaro's i still respect the Mustang & Challenger and if the F ord could up there HP i would not mind owning a Mustang but just look @ the time in my sig w/ just 2 minor mod's i ran that fast.If you could do that w/ a Mustang GT i would own 1.
