i just prefer to buy american due to loyalty to the country, imo thats whats wrong with americans now days, they have no loyalty, i NEVER see asian people driving american cars.. whys that?? brand loyalty to their country.
something americans should wake the hell up and do. heck the new malibu is a nice car for a daily driver, id sport it if i needed a dder.

Simply because it's an American business? Ha.
Buying a product because of where it's made is ignorant.
GM's sales were down over 22% last year.
Even after the bailout, they're so far in the red it's not even funny.
Sadly, they're most likely done for.
Is it their fault? Yes.
Should/will consumers take a hit to keep GM's death at bay? no.

Both of those cars have definitely raised the bar, but the Malibu is not too far behind, and for a similar price I would much rather have a G8...

I will not say it isn't a nice car because it is. Here is what I will say it doesn't move me the same way some other premium automobiles in the same segment. I have driven them all and I will say that the CTS is close it isn't quite there. It seems like they don't want to offend the customer base that they have, can't blame them for that, but I don't fit in that customer base. I'm not over 50 and I don't buy a car because of a badge.

People are ungrateful.
GM has given us some great cars, in every era. You just have to weed through some of the bad, and realize that you can only have power, luxury, or affordable..... pick two. And PS..... it's not just GM, you can only have two with any manufacturer.
People say the 4th gen Camaro was a POS car because it's not built with an interior like an SL500. But what can you expect, it's powerful and affordable....and frankly, it was the best car in it's class. Was anything else built from '93-'02 that was more powerful AND more affordable? Nope.

Yes, but the problem was that they were (at times) providing cars that provided the wrong combination of the two. Or even worse, only one (or none) of those attributes. And you can't expect someone to buy something that they don't want, just because of the badge on the hood.

Definitely... I think Australia is a lot how America was back in the 60s. Their "stock car" racing actually uses real cars (and lots of road courses), and they have Fords and GMs over there with nice V8s and manual transmissions. America just got too lazy for a market like that, I guess.

I think what ford and GM offer in Australia is considerably greater then what America is offered (to some extent).
While the Taurus was discontinued shortly over here, they were still churning them out in Australia and Europe (Mondeo).
