GM to Import 30,000 Holden Police Cars on US Taxpayer Money?
Wild *** Rumor of the Day: GM to Import 30,000 Holden Police Cars
By Robert Farago
June 15, 2009
TTAC has it on good authority (without independent confirmation) that GM is moving forward with plans to import 30,000 Zeta-platformed Holdens per year from Australia to sell to US police agencies.
Our source is not privy to the whys and wherefores. “I’m not sure why they don’t use existing capacity at the Camaro plant in Canada,” our source admits. “I can only assume GM needed to somehow replace the G8 capacity.” By the same token, he “can’t imagine this will make the federal government or taxpayers too happy.” Unless, tin foil hat wearers, the feds already knew, as this G8 invasion was part of the 17,205 “domestic” vehicles ordered under the auspices of the economic stimulus package.
US jobs? Nuh-uh.

basically a g8 police car. while i agree i wish they were going to be built stateside, it is good to see that they may not be killing it off all together. heck in about 4 or 5 years they will be hitting the auction blocks. a stripped g8 with a b4c package = gxp suspension, brakes, engine setup perhaps??? lots of spare parts too.
being a g8 gt owner, i'm all for it.

not missing the point, just trying to look at the good side of things, while this country's leadership seems bound and determined to try it's best to run our freedoms, and our economy into the ground.
my reply was one part joke, and another part serious. again just trying to keep things a little on the up side.

I'm not a Obama fan at alllll....
But what freedoms again is he and his admin ruining? He's been in for some time now, and not much has changed yet. Still fucked economy, Muslims still hate us, yet he is telling them that we love them, and well my 02 is sitll in the garage and there is gas to fill it up, among other things.
So what has changed?

y'all are right. how could i have been so blind to all of this. socialized medicine, goverment ownership of car companies, banks, and the endless rants about gun control are not true at all. the goverment is even so nice as to tell me what car i will beable to buy in the future. wow, and look at how great the stock market is doing. i can't wait to be taxed like the europeans are. so many people who don't feel like working need me. i should feel blessed.
lets all be friends and just sing koombyah around the campfire
and no.... i wasn't a big bush fan.

Well the Med I agree on, but the car ownership. They asked for the cash they weren't just going to give it to them like they did for the banks, look how bad that turned out. And what cars are they telling you to drive? I haven't seen anything anywhere where they said they are going to stop production on anything and force anyone in to anything. They are raising the fleet average thats it.
And my guns are still nicely locked up in the gun safe and I've yet to have a hard time buying a new one.

OK, that means you didn't read what you wrote...stop producing it. They aren't forcing you into it...they are forcing you out of the best GM 4 door on the market today.

I was more referring to Corvettes and Camaros, but you got me, I over looked that part.
I guess the G8 never really sank home with me of being a GM car...
my mistake
