If it's priced in the 40's I would totally do a sideways trade with my current Z.

we're all excited because the z28, if under 50k is within grasp for many who've been wanting a factory street brawler like this from GM ever since Ford trumped us with the Terminator.

Well, I mean, it is probably going to be competitive with the GT500, so I wouldn't doubt the affordability of it...

But you never know these things until a brochure actually comes out :/

Let alone markup.

A $50K price tag isn't worth it IMO. It's the same old song and dance...buy a base model and dump $5K into a shorty and $10K in mods. You'll end up spending less and having 800hp.

No jealousy here...you know that. I'm waiting to see what the Z28
has to offer. Remember, my previous car was a Z28. I wouldn't mind having
another.

I'm sure this will **** off a few members whose names I don't remember at this time...

But which car is going to have better "potential"... GT500 or the new Z28? No real way of knowing quite yet... but still, the question stands.

I mean... potential is one of the bigger argument points for even getting a GT500 in the first place, right? At least, that's what I gleaned from the bickering that flies around here anyway.

My real question is how much boost will the Z28 have stock?

You guys are missing it.....

GM feels it can price it competitively -- and far enough away from Corvette.
Corvette starts @ $48k, right now... so it won't be 50k... try mid to low $40's (in my opinion of course)

I don't have the answer, but I do have a few thoughts on that subject.
There actually is no answer. It's a matter of opinion.
  1. The Z28 will have the advantage because of the cubic inches.
  2. Will the engine in the Z28 be reliable at 700rwhp with stock internals.
  3. They are both land yachts so throw the weight discussion out.
As long as the Z28 can hold a lot of power with stock internals, my vote would be for the Camaro.

Is there mention of the Z28 having an automatic trans? I'm dying for a car with an automatic in it. I already have one stick shift car. That's enough for me.

Hopefully they aren't meaning keeping the top of the heap Camaro priced lower than the top of the heap Corvette. Cause you can get a lot of Camaro for under 103k.

Do you really think the LSA can hold as much as the GT500's DOHC 5.4? The LSA has powdered metal rods and hyper pistons, so I don't know that it can take the same amount of abuse.

Don't know. The GT500's 5.4 can only hold about 700rwhp safely
and the rpm needs to stay real low. We'll see what the Z28 can do.
I'm not a LSA expert by any means.

Remember, the LSA has more cubes. That means less psi for a given power level.

At least, that's how it works in theory.

There's a guy on CadillacForums with a CTS-V that dynoed over 700rwhp on a stock bottom end. It's still running strong, though it's only been about two months if I recall.

What am I missing here? Why is everyone talking about swapping OUT the TVS 1900? Is there a thread I missed on Catastrophic failures? Most experiences I've had with the TVS are really good.

I'm happy GM decided to go ahead with this too!
