2012 Mustang GT500 Twin Turbo V8 600 HP
#21
the 2010 gt500 is more around 600 hp...they only claim 540 but many guys get at least 510 to the wheels. Ford also has the 6.2 coming out for the new svt raptor, that truck is amazing even with the 5.4. They were running over 100 mph off road, looks and rides like a baja truck.
#22
You sure about that? A friend drove the new raptor and he said it was a roach in terms of power.

Right, I year what you're saying...but you're talking about it "will" do this and it "will" do that. I'm telling you that I have a good friend that drove one and he said it's a dog from a power standpoint. His word is as good as gold. You have to understand that some people here at LS1Tech have insider info on certain things. The LSx engines are far more potent.
#26
Definitely. There is talk amongst the Mustang community that the TT V8 won't happen. It would be crazy to see a factory twin turbo V8. Swap out the stock turbos and a FMIC and who knows what kind of power it could make.
#27
Think about if the FI system isn't maxed out from the factory. You are talking about some serious gains with just a boost controller. A turbo V8 is hands down my favorite set up, and has insane potential.
#28
I hope the Mustang community is wrong about that. This is a car that I would love to own a couple of years down the road.

Ford started off the Raptor's with the 5.4 as the "base" engine. The 6.2's are supposed to be released around December.
As far as the potentcy of the 6.2...Ford gave Roush a 6.2 pre-production engine and they stroked it to 427 c.i and put it in Don Bowles NMRA S197 Mustang; where it ran low 9's on muscle.
#32
can drive them then I suppose.
Good comparison.
#33
I wasn't using the Roush prepped engine as a comparison; more as what potential these engines have.
I haven't been following the Raptor's super close, as I'm not in the market for a truck, but I was just relaying what the Ford tech's on another board had been posting on them.

i wish the greedy bastards at gm would take incentive like ford.
they have that new tt sho which is pretty nifty, they shoulda dropped that engine in the new stangs. i would not be surprised if they did release a tt v8 car.
the 5th gen could have easily been tt, theres more than enough room for the plumbing, they alredy have a supplier for turbos, they use turbos on the cobalts, dont see why they couldnt source a set for the camaro. and its gotta to easier to cast a pair tt manifolds for it.
look at the stock manifolds on the g8 gt, they look like they could have t3 or t4 flanges on them now.

Yeah...and that would be outstanding! Give guys like us a car that traps 135mph in stock trim and we'd be running 9's with tires, a tune, and a little more boost. I guess I'm missing your point.
More importantly, a TT GT500 at 3,200lbs would be a street terror. Too bad that's not going to happen. Regardless, a factory TT V8 would be awesome. We'll see...

You mean the drivers just don't impress you. It's very possible to get into the 11s in a Cobra with barely any more power over stock. Good set of tires, tune, maybe a couple bolt-ons, and a good driver.

I have to agree with the driver being the hold back.
I just bought my Cobra a little over a month ago and it drives very different than the N/A-Nitroused Fox that it replaced.
The first couple of passes I made really bummed me out because I was not used to the car and ran some pretty dismal times with it.
The good news is the more passes I make with it, the faster it keeps getting.
