Let's see: I have owned two 4 door Impala's, two 2 door Impala's (in 1978 and 1981), and one Impala station wagon. The Impala's were originially the base model with the Caprice Classic being the upscale trim package. That changed from 94-96 when they swapped it around the other day.

What year were you born, 1990? From the beginning there has always been a Chevrolet Impala 4 door! In the 1960's and 70's there were 2 door, 4 door, and convertible Impalas, I even owned a couple of Chevy Impala 4 doors. The full-sized Chevy platform went like this: Biscayne, Bel-Air, Impala, Caprice, and there were both 2 door and 4 door versions of all of them.

This redesign has been underway for awhile now but Chrysler has been good at keeping it completely under wraps (no leaks, spyshots, etc). It was previewed somewhat during the presentation about Chrysler's future.

The new Charger looks very similar to the 1999 concept and it's due to be released soon along with a redesigned Chrysler 300. The Challenger will recieve the new interior and similar upgrades as well.
And Fiat's current product plan for Dodge (subject to change).

Only 500 more Vipers will be produced. There are no firm plans to offer a new Viper or replacement. The Challenger will become Dodge's halo performance car.

I never have liked sedans. Coupes look too damned sexy. The only one I liked was the RX8. It's more concealed. Too bad about them being slow and all. Rotary engines are neato.

Actually I could have gave 2 ***** about any car at all until around 1997. That's when I started looking at cars as more than point A to point B transportation, and everything I've read focuses on the 2 door Impala. Sorry my books call the 4 door Impala a Caprice, I'll contact the author.
