neat. great way to not just get racing to the state but maybe hold semi regular events in a mostly controlled environment. id bet it cuts down on the illegal street racing.

Maybe not "true" street racing....but could you see that actually being passed as being legal?

Either way, looks awesome! Good way for people to run their cars if they can't get to a drag strip (or don't want to).

Nice thread necro. Over a year old. If it passed, we would have heard about it. The doomsayers would have been out in force.

I could see this being cool for car cruises and stuff.... side area for people to drag race a little/etc... but i totally dont see it working

Most of the cruises here in Detroit are done in downtowns/etc with ice cream shops and restaurants just off the curbsides. Ppl set up chairs and all that, etc.

What happens the first time one of the duffaces gives it too much gas or loses his powersteering and jerks the wheel or blows a tire... about 10-20 dead people... goodbye street racing.

Also i'm sure participating in these events will be well documented by your insurance provider (probably send a rep to every race to record Vin/plates) and then jack your rates or deny you coverage.

Not saying i dont wish they could figure this out... just not sure of the locations and if they would have to be so remote that they wouldnt be worth the trouble (more trouble than just going to a real track).

Also what if you were the one who owned the property/house/business right in front of where they wanted to drag race. Some would say it;s cool... now imagine you have little kids that like to play in the front yard, or some one loses it and crashes into your front porch or destroys your lawn ;-)
