Hmm, a nice 9.5:1 compression 5.5L (not that puny little 3.0L as rumored LOL) V8 with twin turbos has a nice ring to it.
Not going to happen though so I'd still like to see a naturally aspirated higher compression 6.2L (or 6.4L) with Direct Injection.

Can we all forget this other crap about turbos and ram air and get back to the original topic people?

Does anyone have any news about the upcoming LS5? I was really hoping that 9 months after this thread had last seen activity that someone would at least have a shred of news to share.

RPO codes are 3 digits, so LS10 wouldn't work, even though there's basically zero chance it would be built in the first place.

From everything I have read 5.5 liter is race only. 6.2 liter will remain. Should be VVT and direct injection.

Meant to be said in a sarcastic voice: Thank you for reminding me, oh how could I forget...

What makes you think I haven't already tried that? On every thread there is a person who tells everyone else to google their own info. My suggestion to you sir is that if you don't have anything constructive or relevant to post, don't bother posting at all.

Read where? Not trying to pick a bone here, just looking for a source of more info. Is this from an article? Do you have a link?

That's probably a good suggestion but umm, one might also agree that you didn't exactly exercise/follow your own advice here:

I do not know if we are allowed to post other forum names, but there are other large forums , with very knowledgeable people that do not like the prospects of a 5.5 liter street engine. Many of them have been very accurate in the past.

You can post links to other forums. In fact some links in sticky threads go to other forums.

**** what will a 6.2L VVT/DI engine make?!?

I'd like to hope it would crack 500 with full bolt-ons and a gnarly tune.

I agree...a VVT/DI 6.2L in a Corvette could potentially be rated at upwards of 460hp (crank) from the factory. Full bolt ons (still stock cam & heads) could possibly bring it to 500+hp (crank) which would be AMAZING.

Camaroz28.com has some good information on this. The future automotive section just below the Lounge has some threads on it occassionally.

I don't see anything wrong with a 5.5 liter DI motor that could spin to 7,000+ rpm and make as much if not more then the current 6.2 liter motor with better fuel efficiency and emissions. If I were GM i would keep the horsepower to 450 hp or less to keep from intruding into Z06 territory, even though there are still signicant differences between the standard C6 and Z06.

hopefully, if the 5.5l is a di engine, the block and heads are the same basic design so we can do some... conversions .

402 stroker converted to DI? yes please!
