Good point. Let's get the OE model to corner similarly to an American Lemans spec'd Viper...& wheel base is the place to start, as you've noted. Am not suggesting the the AL Viper's wheel base is any different than the OE Viper, 'cuz I don't know for sure, but, the handling is better. Wheel base needs to be kept in check in order to corner nicely.

EDIT:
On another note: TriShield, how 'bout putting your Stig avatar hanging from a noose since his identity has been revealed...at least until a new Stig & color has been manufactured, lol.

It's all about the numbers, people will stare at almost ANY car that they simply see less of.
Not always. The car still needs curb appeal too. My '09 CTS-V is very rare, but gets even less looks from non-car people than my '10 Camaro does. The Viper just commands attention, even from non-car people. No comparison with a Corvette, even mine.

Also, LOL at making the Viper "turn easier". They turn just fine. Not sure who started the "Viper doesn't handle well" rumors, but those guys obviously never drove one either.

C6 Z06
wheelbase: 105.7 inches
length: 175.6 inches
width: 75.9 inches

SRT-10 Viper
wheelbase: 98.8 inches
length: 175.6 inches tie
width: 75.2 inches

Yes, the Viper is actually about identical (smaller) than a Z06. Most people assume they are larger cars, but they aren't. They could easily increase the wheelbase without adding length, just by making the overhangs shorter.

I disagree...OK, on the street it turns just fine, but, not on a road course. When I pass ACR's, that's right ACR's, it's because my Munster turns better in the corners. So, from my experience @ the track, the guy who started the "turn easier" is correct in relation to performance road course driving. Once again, on the street it turns just fine. The wheelbase relation was incorrect, but, there is something; FRC, corner weight balancing or unsprung weight that causes an issue.

Side note: ACR's have bouncy seats to try & keep the passengers from getting slammed from the suspension. These springy seats are the first things modified by new owners. If anyone involved w/ ACR design is reading this, get rid of those springs under the ACR seats. It's like riding on one of those playground animals that rock on the single spring.

I'm not a fan of the Viper in that picture. It looks watered down. It's not as vulgar, not as intense looking. It looks like almost generic sports car design.

In your extensive knowledge, what is it exactly that makes the Viper a waste of money?

Many have been saying that very same thing about the Viper line since the 2003s came out.
I like them all and the 2003+ models are better (and faster) cars overall but I do still prefer the as you'd said, more vulgar/intense 'look' of the 1992-2002 cars.

I agree. The newer ones are still nice looking, and better performers stock for stock, but the '02 and older are definitely better looking.

That's not the new Viper... that's the Alfa Romeo that the planned Viper is rumored to look like.

1. What is your LS1 Munster. I'm guessing a modified car.
2. Congrats on passing an ACR, or a dozen of them. That doesn't automatically mean your car is better. Ever heard of driver skill or aggressiveness? I've passed numerous cars while driving lesser cars, simply by out-driving them. There are guys in Miata's that pass Vipers on the roadcourse too, does that make a Miata better? Nope.

I've tracked my Viper coupe a few times, as well as my C6 Z06. The Viper is a better car on the track, it handles just fine. In fact, during one race weekend I let a Porsche racing instructor drive my Viper while I rode shotgun. He giggled the entire time, saying how much more exciting the car was than his Porsche. He kept asking how much he could buy one for, and that he also underestimated the Viper. Just like you!
