First 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible to be auctioned off
I didnt see anything else about this here so I thought that I would post up about it...fresh from GM this morning.
General Motors announced this morning that on Friday, they will be auctioning off the second production 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible with help from the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction and Greg Heinrich of Fairway Chevrolet in Las Vegas. This auction will offer someone the chance to own the very first 2011 Camaro Convertible to leave the assembly lines and go to a private owner, as the first production 2011 Camaro drop top will be kept by General Motors for historical purposes.

I wonder how much it will go for stupid people with nothing else better to do with their money.
As a side note, I have heard that GM is pushing back production on the 5th Gen verts. I don't really like them to begin with, but something tells me the old codgers will not be pleased.

I've always loved convertibles, I've even owned three of them (all V8 Mustangs) but now I prefer the compromise/'middle of the road approach' of a targa top, sort of a best of both worlds kind of thing.
One of the downsides for a drag racer who owns a convertible are the damn roll bar rules.

I couldn't agree more. Gotta love the T-Tops and/or Targa

If I lived somewhere warmer, I would love having a convertible but with the miserable weather in Detroit, Ill take the easy of a hardtop. The convertible that I drove in college was always cold inside during the winter.
Anyways...the first public-issued 2011 Camaro was auctioned off this weekend and it went for $205,000...thats alot of coin. Click here for the full details.

I also think that it will take away one of the Mustangs current advantages. Before the 2011 Mustangs came out, if power was your main concern, you went with the Camaro but not that the Mustang is much closer in power, theyve cut into GMs advantage in that category. Not everyone wants a convertible but there is a market out there for them. Until the Camaro convertible is available, to someone who wants a convertible, GM is out before even being considered unless they want to step up to a Corvette...and I would guess that someone who is considering buying a V6 mustang convertible isnt going to get stuck between that and a Corvette but what about the V6 Mustang versus a V6 convertible? GM can expect the Camaro vert to steal some thunder from ford as well...hopefully joined by this new z28...
