People will continue to hammer on the UAW either way. It was never about concern over GMs or the others ability to profit. Unions are a known political ally and campaign donor to the DNC and that angers people in the same way Dems are upset when some billionaire or corporation donates to the GOP. Its peoples belief in their own ideals that makes this so heated.

If you're hyperextending your knees that much, you're doing something wrong. Either you're not a good size to do the job you do, or you're moving you're your body wrong.

You work on an assembly line. You do the same task over and over for 8 hours a day. Even someone with little mechanical inclination could pick up on it in a week. I'd still like to see you try and do an engineer's job.

Ironically, its an engineers job to make sure he isnt having to do his job uncomfortably. So Im sure he'd like to see anybody do an engineers job.

And why must this constantly turn into a "a monkey could do that" argument. If it means so much to you to have people working for minimum wage building the cars you drive because they arent designing the car then thats your opinion. Fact still remains that those jobs put roofs over heads, and sent kids to college, and created middle class neighborhoods, and really drove a lot of the economy...so what is it about these jobs , and people being paid a living wage to do them , thats so offensive to you? At least its honest work as opposed to the college educated people that got filthy rich off of playing games with the stock market and hurt a lot of people.

Except the "college educated" don't get rich... that's a very small percentile. The average college graduate doesn't make much more (if at all) than the average UAW worker. So what incentive are we giving people to better themselves?

Your logic is, well.....priceless.

I was a certified welder for years. I would always tell people a monkey can weld. When i see posts from welders acting like they are special it cracks me up, because it takes absolutely no brains to make two pieces of metal stick together really well. Getting them perfect takes a little skill. Your post reminds me of this. Unfortunately, people want to see scale. For someone who busts their *** in school, then have someone else come from nowhere and make more money is a slap in the face, as anyone can understand. I can't speak on the quality or work ethic of union workers because I don't know any. And btw, the workers didn't DRIVE the economy, the buyers did.

A college degree has little to no bearing on who will be rich and who won't, thats completly up to the individual. Anybody with the right idea and motivation can be rich. Microsoft was started by two guys without a college degree in a garage. College ain't for everybody. If you can figure out another way of making it by learning a skill or finding a job that pays well what is wrong with that? To sit here and slam UAW workers because of what they make is ridiculous. You want incentive for those going to college? The incentive is options. You as a college graduate have way more options than someome without one. Hope you appreciate the "multi quotes."

Workers are buyers... You come to our parking lot and 99% of the vehicles driven in are 1990 or newer Ford brand vehicles.

To the guys complaining about our pay... Jealousy killed the cat. Do be mad that we didn't dump $30K into college to only make $35k/year. I bust my *** day in and day out and take pride in knowing that our vehicles are VERY high in Quality.

It's the corrupt Union officials and automotive big wigs that fucked it up.... They're the ones playing of the $33million Union golf course and flying company jest where ever they want.

I've got 4 kids, 3 dogs, car payment, and a house payment. I deserve my little portion of what I get from Ford... Sorry if you don't agree.

And for you ******* saying we're uneducated.... I actually have an associates in Political Science. I stopped college when I got on a Ford.

i dont get people having problems with people making a middle class wage.

just because a certain field makes less than another doesnt mean they dont deserve it.

union workers help support our economy. but i guess its better for CEOs to have most of it and move jobs out of our country.

First, if you only spend $30k on college, it's likely your degree is from a community college and not worth very much in the job market. I'm spending that much every year on my college education. And as 01ssreda4 said, for me to bust my *** in school, and for someone out of high school to come out of nowhere, with only a basic education (and sometimes less than that), and to have a higher pay because they're basically extorting the company, while I have to prove my worth everyday, solve problems that you don't even see or can't even fathom, and do more than just not screw up, that's ******* insulting.

You are right that the corrupt union officials fucked up, but who is responsible for them being in that position? They are elected leaders. So you share the blame as well.

Unions have done more to drive manufacturing out of the country thus hurting the economy.

more like corp. greed. HTF can we compete with third world country wages?

perhaps they should hire CEOs from those countries and pay accordingly?

i agree. the CEOs want more money, because, well they need some TP.

anyone working that isnt a big top executive, wants/needs more money because things are getting more expensive these days.

the CEOs wont budge, so they outsource jobs.

i see two possible solutions.

1. is not outsourcing to another country, but to another part of THIS country. moving a job in NY where the individual gets paid ~80,000 or more a year, to somewhere less expensive (down south for example, or out west) where the person will get paid ~40-50,000.

2. Tax breaks. for every so many people/products are employed/made here, companies can get tax breaks.

COL varies in this country. youre still laying off when you move a job so i disagree there.

tax breaks i agree with but corp. are so greedy theyd rather pay **** wages to someone that doesnt live here.

right i mean it does suck. but i would rather them take that money, and employ 2 people in this country with that one job, than to move it to another country.

i know they would just have to make the steak look juicy enough for them to bite it.

i think penalizing corp for moving jobs overseas is an idea but thatll never happen.

some outsourcing is necessary but alot isnt.
