GM just announced plans to produce its ATS small-mid-size sedan at its Michigan plant and the first spy pics of it is online. It's supposed to be take on the 3-series, A4, C-class like the CTS takes on the 5 series, A6, and E-Class. Supposed to be coupe, sedan, and other variants and ATS-V also in the works.
Anyone think this thing's got a shot at matching or even overtaking the 3 series, A4 or C ? Such a competitive segment. The monster CTS-V and how it compres to the German and Japanese counterparts gives me hope.![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)

Names like Seville and DeVille do not create a image in my head or likely others that Cadillac wants to convey.

I can't possibly see them using the LSA in the ATS-V. I would be in favor of a turbo six, or maybe something like the L99. This car is supposed to be around 3400lbs, so a hp rating in the low 400's would make it a tough competitor, and leave plenty of room for the CTS-V to hold the crown in performance.
Based on the engines they have confirmed so far for this car, I would think that a turbo or twin-turbo six would be very feasible. Though the platform will underpin the next Camaro so it definitely would accept a V8.

The 5.5 DI V8 is a race-only engine for the GT1 Corvettes. The production Gen V DI small-blocks will come in 5.3L and 6.2L. I'd guess performance cars and maybe top-level trucks/SUVs will get the 6.2L, and regular trucks/SUVs will get the 5.3L.
