While I agree there is a right and a wrong way to go about things. Guess we'll see, usually the ones that go completely over the top discredit themselves in the eyes of most

I'm guessing that the Getrag was chosen for cost concerns. At this point, I'd gladly pay an extra grand or two to have a Tremec behind my 5.0. Having a 1:1 5th gear ratio just seems wrong.

I mentioned this a few weeks ago, and I think it certainly may happen. The thing is, they like their spot with it so far. Surely it costs less and going with the other would probably add a couple-three hundred to the resale. Figuring we can get it retail for about $3,500... Pulling the trump card of "manufacturer" and noting they already use it makes it more than obvious they can get it for much less. Then there's the whole, "We won't be buying that one now." and the factory cost isn't much more. The real problem may come in with a lack of production capability. Otherwise, they'd prolly be good to go.

I think so as well. And given that Ford managed to bring down the base cost on the GT for the 2012 MY, I think they could likely put the Tremec in without having to overshoot the SS' base price by very much, if at all.

Well, as the only one who has posted so far that actually owns one..... here's my take.
i get a grind into 3rd one time when it is cold. after the first time it never doesnt do it again.
mine has never stuck to the floor. built 4/26/2010. i shift it at 7k all the time. all the time. at 7k its shifts intantly. not tooting my own horn, but i shift faster than 99 percent of drag racers. instant bang, very little lift.
i have 20,013 miles on it now driving it that way. i have had ZERO CEL's. zero issues of any kind. there is a cold start up low level rumble that is probably the phasers.
now, with that said...
i would not drive this transmission at the track with slicks. it cant take it. the clutch would shear off. if i ever wanted to race it, i need a t56viper spec, a supported rear end housing system, and a racing clutch. these cars 60' in the 1.6-1.7 range with bolt ons and tires. somethings gonna give.

The huge transmission problems these cars have been having is really unfortunate. The 5.0 Mustang's are a great package. It's really too bad they were plagued with this major issue. But then again, this is a new car with a brand new drivetrain so some problems are expected but this is a huge issue that has yet to be dealt with completely, which is not a good thing.
